On Friday, November 22, 1963, President Kennedy and his wife Jacqueline were in Dallas, Texas to campaign for the Democratic nomination in 1964.  They rode from the airport in a Lincoln convertible.  Jacqueline wore a pink Chanel suit.

Shortly after noon local time, a shot or shots rang out.  Kennedy was shot in the neck and head by a high-powered rifle and he slumped toward his wife.

The grievously wounded President was taken to Memorial Hospital while the nation awaited word on his condition. . . here is CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite.
